GET YOUR DAILY DOSE
Does The Corona Have You Stressed & Tense?
Don’t trip, humans have been stressed ever since the first beat of a heart.
It is natural, it is life.
The key is understanding why this happens & how to address it correctly.
I am going to break this into two parts: what happens when your body undergoes stress, & then next week I’ll give you tips on how to ease the physical discomfort produced by stress.
Throughout the day your body experiences a multitude of stressors.
Be it traffic, deadlines, running on the pavement, hitting the gym, relationships, balancing groceries up the stairs, or a global pandemic called the Corona Virus, your body is undergoing stress.
When you experience stress (physical & emotional) your body produces adrenaline and cortisol.
I'm sure everyone is familiar with adrenaline, it is the chemical your body produces to
MAKE YOUR ASS MOVE!
Adrenaline is immediately released from the body, where cortisol is released minutes after to signal parts of your body to respond (slow things up or speed things down) & focus on the stressor at hand. This is why carrying stress after an event is harmful because cortisol shuts down your immune system & raises blood pressure to focus on the stressor at hand, but if you're in traffic and your body is doing this, this is not good for your health. Being stressed can literally make you sick.
This is great if your an animal in the wild, but humans are not animals in the wild, we are animals behind desks, steering wheels, phones, & machines.
When your in the office and you make a mistake, you don’t get up & run around the block & cool off. No, you sit at your desk and your body absorbs it.
As a result our bodies experience stiffness, muscle tension, & body discomfort from being stressed & not physically acting on the signals being produced by the body (chemical reactions from the fight or flight response).
Now let’s look at the stress your body endures from the load of running or performing an exercise.
Initially you’ll be fine when you take your first strides, but overtime you will slowly begin to feel this burning sensation within parts of your body. This burn feeling is the production of lactic acid.
To keep it simple, this occurs when not enough oxygen is being transported to certain parts of your body, & lactic acid is being created faster than it can be removed.
This is due to your body’s inexperience communicating with new parts of your body during new physical activity. It is basically your body telling you, “YO! HOMIE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? YOU HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE!!! CHILLLLLLLLLL!!!”
By repetition and practice your body will learn & become more efficient at supplying oxygen to these new parts of your body, enabling you to go the distance.
THERE IS NO MAGIC TO GET THERE,
JUST GOOD OL’ FASHIONED HARD WORK!
When going the distance you will become sore due to the overuse of muscle tissues & if you push yourself too much, you will experience Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS). That is the intense soreness you feel 2 to 3 days after intense workouts or intense activity.
At this point you’re just sore, in pain, and stressed out from life. What do you do now?? Check in next week where I break down some muscle relief tips!!!! Till then take your vitamins & wash your hands!!!!

REDEYE FITNESS Do's & Don'ts of Sauna Use
Saunaing???! using the sauna, chillin in the sauna, bickin back in the sauna bein bool, whatever you may call it, I really enjoy using the sauna, you know that wooden room in the gym that produces heat, not confused with a hot spring full of monkeys as pictured above lol. It wasn't always like that though. I didn't know how to properly “sauna” in the beginning. I’d go in there, sweat on my only pair of clothes, feel nasty, then drive home after panicking in a hot fury and not wanting to experience that again. So with that, please allow me to walk you through the sauna life.
I enjoy stretching in the sauna prior to a workout. Loosens up the muscles and joints, especially if you're into AM workouts. I really enjoy the sauna after a workout though. It relaxes tight muscles and is just a great way to relax in general. Beyond that, countless research supports the health benefits of regular sauna use (Thank the Swedish).
Before we even get into the health benefits of sauna use, let us go over simple sauna educate, by exploring the “REDEYE FITNESS Do's & Don'ts of Sauna Use”
Do wear swimwear, underwear, or a change of clothes you can comfortably sweat your ass in, literally.
Do take a towel to wipe your excessive drip.
Do drink plenty of water throughout your day so that you are properly hydrated for the sauna.
Do exit the sauna if you feel light headed, dizzy, or at a loss of senses well in the sauna, PLEASE immediately.
Do not consume water well inside the sauna (do not bring water bottles, etc.).
